What a day it's been ! I've never been sooo tense. Ever.
Never been a cricket fan either. Until the IPL 20-20 format happened... I watched the Chennai Super Kings play the Mumbai Indians live at the MA Chidambaram stadium in '08 and was completely sold. The raw adrenaline , de Spanish wave , unmitigated excitement, super music ,wickets falling at the speed of lightening (some of the wildest catches) , record runs established...all added to the IPL obsession. The first season saw me fall hopelessly for Dhoni , Hayden , Jacob Oram & Brendon McCullum( yea , yea..I know he's part of KKR but you do make exceptions where devilish good looks are concerned) ....this combined with my undying love for Chennai saw me become a dyed-in-de-wool staunch supporter of CSK.
You should have seen me to believe just how worried I was while watching CSK fight the Kings XI for their rightful spot in the semis, today! Everything looked dicey till the 17th over and then Dhoni kicked things into top gear and played like a God! Watching Dhoni blast those sixes with such gritty ease was the icing on the top of a super edgy evening...The white knuckled moments were worsened by that ingratiatingly zealous Priety Zinta.. can't stand watching that silly PZ and her high-strung jumping and cheering especially when CSK is involved..ugh! Call me a kill joy, but her face was worth watching when Irfan Pathan dropped a crucial catch (eeeeeee...* beams *)..lol.. the commentator even "hon"ed her and asked her to "sit down"..about time I'd say :S
So to celebrate the spectacular win ... we went to 'Isda Thai'. Ah! the food there is to die for!!!Their cucumber salad and Tom Kha soup was heavenly. Usually Thai food in Hyderabad is spicy beyond belief. There was a time when my eyes were watering and my tongue was on fire and I was all about the sniffles when I overheard a lady from the neighbouring table yell at the waiter for making the food too bland! Since then , I've been terribly wary of Hyderabadi-thai khanna.... and then Isda Thai happened. They actually listen when I say- "make it mild"!

In a moment of sheer inspiration I decided to speak to the Sous-chef and learnt how to make that exquisite Cucumber salad... Il est très simple- Toss the diced cucumbers & onions in sweetened vinegar and garnish it with slices of thai chilli depending on how much spice you can take .And you're done! Ain't life grand!?
The mellow Tom-kha soup was a total delish too-it was a thai coconut milk soup doused with vegetables , lemon grass galanga , kaffir lime & some fiery chillies (tempered in quantity specially for moi). The rest of the dishes we ordered like the satay and Thai Green Curry were well-prepeared but nothing that could send me into raptures. On the whole , I liked the way things panned out today.
Can't wait to see what 'morrow brings!:)
